Lithuanian Society of Cardiology (LSC) is a public organization that unites Lithuanian cardiologists, other physicians, and researchers working in the field of cardiology. LSC act in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania, the Law on public organizations of the Republic of Lithuania, and other lithuanian laws, legal acts, and these regulations. LSC objective – to organize and coordinate the activity of Lithuanian cardiologists, doctors of other specialties, and researchers working in the field of cardiology. LSC main tasks are:

  • take part in the organization of cardiac health care for Lithuanian citizens;
  • collect, analyze and share information about its activities, latest cardiovascular research, cardiovascular healthcare status, its problems and planned improvements;
  • develop scientific research in cardiology
  • coordinate the development of professional qualifications of LSC members and make recommendations for a specialty license;
  • organize congresses, seminars, workshops, scientific and practical conferences, symposiums for LSC members and together with Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Vilnius University specialized postgraduate education courses;
  • develop methodological recommendations of cardiovascular diseases diagnosis, treatment and prevention;
  • perform managerial and educational research in key areas;
  • examine the demand and supply of cardiologists in Lithuania;
  • release single and periodical publications in cardiology, supporting monographs, textbooks, methodical aids, society orientated literature in cardiology topics;
  • support and initiate associations and / or councils and / or working groups, and / or committees for organization and coordination of scientific research and practical work in cardiology;
  • represent LSC in other Lithuanian and international public organizations;
  • support young scientists and recommend them for financial support;
  • recommend and support LSC members for the internships abroad or trips to events held in Lithuania or abroad;
  • call for tenders or propose candidates for the nominal, state or other bonuses available;
  • organize commemorations of significant life and creative activity anniversaries of LSC members;
  • participate in solving professional, social, ethical and other problems of LSC members.

LSC combines Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Panevėžys and Šiauliai regional Societies of Cardiology. LSC currently has 495 members.
